WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT ABORTION

God hates “Hands that shed innocent blood God” - Proverbs 6:16-19

God gives life to man - Genesis 2:7, Ruth 4:13 – the Lord gave her conception – “the Lord gives”

There is no distinction made between life in the womb and life out of the womb in the Bible.  Luke 1:44 – babe leaped in her womb.  2 Timothy 3:15 – “child” – this is the same word as “babe” in Luke 1:44

Why people consider Abortion?

1. It is a way to hide sin.  2 Samuel 11,12 – David committed murder to hide his sin. 

2. They will escape the responsibility of having the child.  This is selfishness.  1 Corinthians 13:5 – Love seeketh not your own.

3. Someone else wants it to happen.  Being pressured by parents, boyfriends, etc.  In Acts 5:29 it says,  “obey God rather than men”. 

4. I didn’t have a choice… 1 Corinthians 10:13 – “There is no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” – You do have a choice.

5. It will be better for the baby.  In Rom 1:31 it talks about people who were without natural affection.  The natural behavior is to protect a child, not hurt or kill them – v.32 also.

6. It’s her right to choose.  Being pregnant is not a sickness 1 Corinthians 6:19,20 – “you are not your own… glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”.
