Hello to all my readers!
AT LAST! The
long-awaited first book of my new "America West" series is coming
soon! INTO THE WILDERNESS should be in stores by mid-March, and
Amazon.com is already taking advance orders! Watch for my two-page spread in
Romantic Times magazine's April issue--it contains an article from me and an
excerpt from the book. (I'll have the cover and description on my What's New
page just as soon as the publisher sends them to me!)
INTO THE
WILDERNESS is the first book I've written that's set in the 1700's
rather than the 1800's, and involving the Iroquois Indians and the early years
of the settling of America. As most of you know, I dearly love the history of
this great Nation, and I love telling stories that make that history come
alive. When I signed with Forge Books to write my "America West"
series, I decided to start with something akin to "Last of the
Mohicans," a movie I absolutely love. That movie is what first caused me
to want to write my own story set in the era of the French & Indian War; so
I chose that era to start my new series about the settling of America. I worked
very hard on the research for my story, as I do for all my books; and through
that research I became very fascinated with the fabulous history surrounding
the earlier beginnings of America! When this series is finished, I will
definitely be writing more books about this era!
INTO THE
WILDERNESS is about Noah Wilde, a long hunter; and Jess Matthews, a
settler's daughter. Early in the story Noah rescues Jess from an Indian attack
and is wounded. As he mends at her parent's home, Noah and Jess fall in love.
Noah is part French and Indian, but because of certain personal events in his
past, he has chosen to spy for the English as the French become more and more
of a threat to English Territory in early America. His responsibilities as spy
force him to leave Jess for a while, but he is imprisoned on false charges by
the English and cannot return when promised. When he finally returns, he
discovers the horror of a family murdered by Indians! In sifting through the
burned remains, he discovers that Jess was not one of the victims, which means
she was taken alive, likely to be used as a slave, or a bride for an older
Iroquois man. Thus begins his frantic search for Jess; which leads him into
French Territory and new dangers because of his role as a spy. In the end, Noah
is forced to make a decision between love for a woman, and loyalty to a cause.
Through it all Jess Matthews is a heroine to root for throughout the story. Her
courage and strength are an example of the kind of women it took to brave
America's early frontiers.
You don't want to
miss INTO THE WILDERNESS, which will be followed by Book #2 next
spring, INTO THE VALLEY. That story will be about two brothers,
the sons of Noah and Jess Wilde, and will be set during the Revolutionary War,
another most exciting era in our Nation's history! The two brothers are of
opposing opinions regarding Patriots and Loyalists, and both fall in love with
the same woman! This will be a very exciting and romantic historical that leads
to Book #3, INTO THE PRAIRIE. I think you can see where I am
going with this series. Each book will take my readers a little farther west as
America is settled. The books will be set years apart so that each will be a
strong story on its own without it being necessary to read the previous books.
Spring always
brings new beginnings, and this is a new beginning for me, the beginning of a
brand new series and starting in a brand new era! Enjoy!
As many of you
already know, I'm starting the new year off with a new business venture. No, I
won't stop writing! However, I have always wanted to have my own business to
help women feel prettier and more confident, but didn't have the time to devote
to both it and my writing. So I have decided to sell Mary Kay cosmetics! Please
read my Mary Kay page for all the details.

P. S. Because of the large number of requests I receive for
full lists of my books, the Books In Print
section of this website is constantly updated to reflect my latest releases, as
well as listing all of my past works. I have also added an Ordering Information page for those of you who can't find
my books in your local bookstore!
